West Michigan Works! has launched a new virtual Entrepreneurship Bootcamp program for 2024. Scheduled quarterly, the first bootcamp took place January 16 and 18 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This free, two-part series is designed specifically for budding entrepreneurs and new business owners within the West Michigan Works! seven-county region. Entrepreneurship Bootcamp will provide comprehensive guidance and resources for individuals looking to start their own business or elevate an existing one. Those interested in future bootcamps can visit the workshop calendar to look for an upcoming Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, or fill out the waitlist form.
“Entrepreneurship Bootcamp is a fresh beginning and an exciting opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly as we embark on a new year filled with potential and growth,” said Chad Patton, director of development & innovation, West Michigan Works!. “It’s not just about starting a business; it’s about cultivating innovative thinking and economic empowerment. This practical, hands-on training in entrepreneurship is a vital step in supporting a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in our regional economy.”
Participants will engage in an immersive learning experience, leveraging the Centro Business Planning App under the guidance of two West Michigan Works! workshop instructors trained by Centro. The bootcamp covers eight units, seven of which are within the app, focusing on defining a business model, creating a budget and creating a business plan. Attendees will also receive a virtual workbook and a Centro Bootcamp Certificate upon completion.
Entrepreneurship Bootcamp is the latest West Michigan Works! offering to support job seekers. Originally a pilot site for CENTRO, the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp eventually established a partnership with CENTRO and Grow Entrepreneurs. Now the organization looks to revitalize CENTRO with a new training format, establishing a great place for entrepreneurs to start their business plan.
Entrepreneurship Bootcamp is set to run quarterly throughout 2024, with potentially additional workshops based on demand. Full attendance and participation on both days are mandatory for course completion. Registration for day 1 automatically enrolls participants in day 2. Registration has closed and the workshop is full.
Other virtual and in-person workshops include topics related to career exploration, cover letters, self-esteem and interviewing.
