Virtual Job Fair to Host Over 35 Employers
West Michigan Works! Virtual Job Fair will connect employers and job seekers during the state’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order. The virtual hiring event takes place on Tuesday, April 21, and Thursday, April 23, and features more than 35 employers as well as 75 different positions in industries ranging from construction and healthcare to retail. Participating job seekers will be able to discuss their skills and qualifications while learning more about current job opportunities.
During the week of April 13, 2020, job seekers can register for 15-minute phone conversations with local employers that have immediate openings.
Why a Virtual Job Fair Now?
March saw historic numbers of Michigan employers temporarily close their doors to slow the spread of COVID-19. Conversely, many employers need additional workers to meet the increased demand for essential services.
“We’re hearing from employers who need to quickly ramp up their recruitment efforts to fill a large number of job vacancies,” said Amy Lebednick, business solutions director, West Michigan Works! “These are employers who provide essential products and services and some who have retooled their facilities or operations to produce much-needed items such as hand sanitizer or face masks.”
Perrigo is one company participating in the virtual job fair. The Allegan-based manufacturer of self-care products has had to increase its production in response to the coronavirus.
“Perrigo plays a critical role in the COVID-19 response effort as our employees are producing the self-care products consumers trust to stay healthy and treat their symptoms around the globe,” said Becky Herrington, VP global talent acquisition, Perrigo. “We value our workers’ dedication and are actively hiring additional employees who are passionate about our mission.”
Check out all of the participating employers, open positions and register to speak with employers!
